The new public diplomacy (PD) is a major paradigm shift in international political communication. James Pamment is a nonresident scholar in the Technology and International Affairs Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. He is also an associate professor at Lund University in Sweden, and co-editor-in-chief of the Place Branding and Public Diplomacy journal. I am part of the Digital Diplomacy in a Turbulent World project funded by Wallenberg (2020-2022), and Editor-in-Chief of the journal Place Branding and Public Diplomacy. My other main area of interest is in using strategic communication to counter foreign interference, such as influence operations and hybrid threats.
